Who We Are
At Developing Hands, we are a multidisciplinary team of passionate leaders in the therapy field. We have been serving families and children for over 12 years in the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions.
Developing Hands Pediatric Therapy provides Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech Therapy (Speech Language Pathology, SLP), Physiotherapy (PT), Feeding Therapy, Counselling (Clinical Social Worker), Psychoeducational Assessments and Osteopathy for children, infants, toddlers, adolescents and youth in Mississauga and the surrounding cities. Our Therapists provide services in our Mississauga Pediatric Therapy Clinics (Mississauga East (bordering Etobicoke) and Mississauga West (bordering Oakville and Milton) Clinics), in-home services across the GTA and online (remote) therapy across Ontario.
Our mission is to empower children and give hope to parents by providing client centered, family focused, evidence based pediatric therapy to assist children reach their potential today, and become leaders of tomorrow.
Our Therapies
Helping Children Do and Play
Occupational Therapy is an effective form of rehabilitation that enables people to engage in their activities of daily living to their optimal potential and as independently as possible. Occupational Therapists aim to enhance the compatibility between a person’s skills, environment and meaningful activities to improve their performance in these activities. A child engages daily in a variety of activities that require essential skills to complete them. Children engage in activities within three categories, self-care, leisure and productivity.

Helping Children SPEAK
Speech Therapy is a service offered to children and families to enhance communication, language, speech and social skills. A child that is experiencing speech delays or having trouble communicating using words or sentences will benefit from speech therapy strategies. Speech Therapists (Speech Language Pathologists – SLPs) are experts in the appropriate developmental milestones of speech and language skills in children and can determine the root causes of concerns. Our Speech Therapists always meet the child at the level they are at and will provide challenges and experiences to enhance their skill to the next level. We engage the child with creative and fun techniques to enhance their skill while enjoying the therapeutic process.

Helping Children MOVE
Physiotherapy assists children with improving their function, movement, strength, physical capabilities and addresses underlining physical health issues they may have. At Developing Hands, our Physiotherapists work with children with developmental or physical delays and are trained in enhancing the motor skills of children. Our Physiotherapists understand the way the body works and moves and are equipped with addressing and enhancing the skills of children to assist them with engaging in their daily routines and activities. Our Physiotherapists can also work with children that require general conditioning and strengthening or who are recovering from an injury, either sport related or unrelated.

Feeding Therapy is an effective form of service provided to enhance the feeding experience of families and children. At Developing Hands, we understand the importance of a well balanced and nutritious diet for a child but also the importance of family meals and gatherings and the impact these have on family dynamics and the sense of togetherness. Our Feeding Therapy services are conducted by either a Speech Therapist or Occupational Therapists. Both Speech Therapists and Occupational Therapists have training in the field of feeding concerns, causes and strategies to enhance the skill and experience of feeding. The appropriate Therapist is connected with the family based on the families needs and goals for the child.

Counselling is a form of therapy offered to families, children, youth and adults to assist with understanding the root causes of the struggles they are facing and to address them in a manageable way. These struggles can be emotional, social, psychological or physical. Situations are broken down to help children and adults understand the core reasons behind these concerns and to start addressing them by providing coping strategies. Counsellors are experts in identifying these concerns that may go unnoticed by others and assist with providing the appropriate strategies to address these issues to enhance the wellbeing of the individual and live a more balanced life.

Psychological assessments are highly specialized and comprehensive assessments that can only be conducted by Psychologists, who receive the highest level of training in this specialized area. Psychological assessments provide an overall picture of the child’s learning profile and assists with determining areas of strengths and areas of improvement. These assessments assist with directing what services may be needed to enhance the child’s learning abilities and skills. Psychological assessments are extremely comprehensive and require a great extent of time to complete. They involve several stages including test preparation and selection, interviews with the family, administration of psychometric testing components…

Helping Children RECOVER
Osteopathic Manual Practitioners or OMP for short, focus on the manipulation and massage of muscle tissue, joints and bones to treat a number of concerns in infants, children, youths and adults. At Developing Hands Pediatric Therapy, our Osteopathic Manual Practitioners start the treatment journey with your family before your child is born. Our Practitioners treat pregnant women, postpartum mothers, and children from 0 (newborns) to 18 years of age (youths). Our Osteopathic Manual Practitioner can assist families, infants, toddlers, children and youth in a variety of ways to alleviate pain and enhance functioning.

At Developing Hands, we provide support to families to instill hope and provide convenient and effective care. We believe the involvement and cooperation of the family is an integral part of the success of a child’s performance in therapy. We provide Parenting Coaching sessions to allow time to consult and educate families on strategies that will enhance their child’s abilities. Families may also be involved during our Counselling services to provide the necessary support to assist children with overcoming their concerns.
We also provide Adult Counselling Services and various therapy services for adults to assist with meeting their therapeutic goals. Developing Hands offers a complete experience for the whole family to address therapeutic goals and needs, both for children and adults.
